Let the good times roll at Babin's Seafood House, a South Louisiana-style restaurant serving Cajun and Creole cuisine. The restaurant exterior is patched with several different styles of architecture found in the French Quarter. Inside, you'll find the same New Orleans flavor. Seating is generously spaced and there are booths galore. Although atmosphere can be half the experience, the food is the draw. Start with Oysters Rockefeller or file gumbo. For dinner, try their traditional entrees such as crawfish etouffee or shrimp creole. Don't forget to check the chalkboard for the latest catch. The fish is always fresh, never frozen. Order your selection with shrimp and crab stuffing or choose from a list of toppings like Pontchartrain or lemon butter sauce piled with crawfish or lump crabmeat. Babin's bustles on weekends. They don't take reservations, but they do offer priority seating. Just tell them in advance when you plan to arrive and when you get there they'll bump your name up to the top of the list. -- Sarah Nichols

Great Seafood
By zellious12 on 09/29/2002
I've been to Babin's twice, and both time's they've had really great seafood. The place has the taste, and feel of New Orleans. I like the music in the background, not too loud, but it gets you in Cajun party mood. The restaurant even looks like it belongs in the French Quarter, very nice. I usually get catfish, or flounder. This place is so good, that I'm going to go down their list of fish. The first time I had catfish, and it was delicious. This last time I wanted to try Wahoo, but they ran out, so I had Amberjack, very good. Will try a new fish eveytime go back. I can't wait to try the Wahoo, it just make me laugh to say it outloud to the waiter.
