Every 30 minutes; $16 adults; $10 children 10 and underThe New Orleans-based metal band Down takes its new and improved sound on the road. Fans of supergroup Pantera will no doubt recognize Phil Anselmo (vocals) and bassist Rex Brown. Rounding out the Black Sabbath-influenced quintet are experienced rockers Pepper Keenan, Kirk Weinstein and drummer Jimmy Bower. The band's experimental 1995 debut CD, NOLA (an acronym for the city it calls home), sold 300,000 copies and attracted quite an underground following. While Anselmos vocals have mellowed just a little these days, they certainly havent lost their punch. And if you listen carefully, you may actually find a melody amidst the groups pounding rhythms. Some have even likened Downs gripping Southern-rock style to the early works of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Maybe the best is yet to come. -- Chris Jones
